Business Card Etiquette- who knew?

I just stumbled upon an etiquette site that said:
Business cards should never be exchanged while dining.
This is true even in the most informal dining situations.
I did not know this!
I always exchange cards at dinner or at lunch, how about everyone else?
Who knew about this secret etiquette rule and didn't feel the need to tell me!!
So, The rule is: exchange cards after the meal is finished or when goodbyes are said.
I would love to hear every ones thoughts on this!

I wait until we are saying out goodbyes but it just happens naturally- I've never planned it. It always just seems to come up at that point when you're saying, 'I'll be in contact. I'll let you know." "yeah, do that! Here's my card!".

I did not know this either. I may have to let my networking group know too. We exchange before, during and after as there are so many of us.

I didn't know it was an official rule, but I do agree with it. I think it's kind of awkward to exchange cards during a meal, especially if someone is a couple people away. Thanks for passing along the tip and making it official!
