History Lesson Part II

Let's pick up with etiquette in America shall we?  One of our founding father's George Washington penned his own standards for etiquette: Rules of Civility & Decent Behaviour In Company and Conversation.

It was 1922 when the most noted Etiquette expert, Emily Post published her first volume on the subject.  Etiquette--In Society, In Business, In Politics, and At Home was quickly a bestseller and was the foundation for many etiquette experts to come.

Amy Vanderbilt would follow Emily Post with her book Amy Vanderbilt’s Complete Guide To Etiquette.

After some rebellion due to the changing face of America, the hippie movement and women's liberation, etiquette has made a comeback.  People long for the days of good and proper manners and have found a way to integrate that into modern life.
