A History Lesson

Some have said you can't know where you're going until you know where you've been.  So this week I thought we'd explore some of the history of etiquette.  And maybe uncover some answers to why we do the things we do when it comes to etiquette and manners.

First Up, Etiquette through 1700:

- The first book of etiquette was written in the fifth Egyptian dynasty by a philosopher named Ptah-Hotep and in this book he listed all the rules of behavior that wise men should pass down to their sons.

-The court of King Louis XIV is where we see etiquette reappear in more modern times.  The French royal court issued a placard, or a list of the rules and rights to be followed.
